Official Opening Friday 19th May.

St. Kilian’s School Orchestra performed at the Opening Ceremony.

1st and 2nd Class released balloons

Our school was officially opened on Friday 19th May by Bishop Leo O Reilly. All the children took part in a special opening ceremony called Trasnán. The children presented symbols representing the best and most important elements of our old school and placed them in St. Kilian’s boat, ready for the journey across to the new school.

Fr. John and Tommy O Reilly planted  trees to mark the special occasion.

Autism Awareness

Spraoi celebrated Autism Awareness Day on Friday 31st March. Children in the school wore blue for mufti-day and each child was given a special badge to mark the day. Children in Spraoi released blue balloons into the air and they went on a special trip to Little Monkeys in Virginia. Thank you to Noel Donoghue who kindly sponsored the bus for them.

Run for Funds 2017

Run for Funds 2017 will take place on Friday 16th June. This year we hope to raise €4,000 to provide more resources for our yards, yard games, benches, picnic tables, bug hotels, netting, developing pathways etc…  Our Student Council (Comhairle Scoile) have circulated suggestion boxes to the pupils on how the money should be spent. They will draw up a list and prioritize the best ideas. Run for Funds promises to be a great day once again this year.

Primary School Ensemble

All the children in 6th Class are taking part in the Primary School Ensemble in association with the Royal Irish Academy of Music.  They will get the opportunity to play in the National Concert Hall in Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin on Thursday 27th April.  The concert will commence at 12.30pm following a rehearsal on the same day at 10.30am. Our school will play Skye Boat Song, The Hills and sing Amazing Grace. The children will leave school at 8am and should bring a packed lunch and wear their full uniform as they will be representing the school. Each child is required to pay €10 to cover costs, payable to the teacher. Tickets for families are available free of charge. Please let your child’s teacher know how many tickets you need. We expect to be back in Mullagh at 4.30pm in time for the Confirmation rehearsal that night.

An Comhairle Scoile

Our newly elected Student Council is as follows, Oscar Longmore, Deirdre O Reilly, Ben Mulligan, Aibhe O Reilly, Conor O Reilly, Ava O Donoghue, Fionn Malone, Róisín Flanagan, Kajetan Mitrega, Aisling Doughty, Darragh Smith, Kyla Mc Goohan, Shane Ryan, Audrey Tanifon, Setanta Gaynor.

Thanks to all who helped in any way and to teachers for their co-operation. A big well done to all those brave boys and girls who put their names forward for election. The various contests were very tight and I encourage children who lost out this time to run again when the opportunity arises. Your school needs you.

A big thank you to Cllr. Shane P. O Reilly for his unstinting support and help throughout the process and to Garda Brian for keeping a watchful eye on election day. Shane P. explained to us all how the PR System works. We think we understand it now!

Royal Irish Academy of Music Orchestra

The RIAM Orchestra will visit our school on Monday 13th March at 11am. They will perform for all the children and explain all the different instruments of the orchestra. They visit as part of their Education and Outreach Programme. We are thrilled they have chosen our school to visit as they only visit one school per year. We are looking forward to Monday.
