Active Learning Miss Mc Donnell’s Class September 2014

This year from 22nd September to 3rd October Infants are doing intensive daily work on their fine motor skills in order to improve their pencil grip and handwriting skills.

They began with water based activities. Mrs Finn, Miss Gilroy and Miss Monnelly set up and worked at four stations with Miss Mc Donnell.

 

 

The children learned to hold a pipette between the thumb and index finger

At this station the children used a jug to pour water up to a designated line in a hand held container.

The children used tweezers to pick up small objects.

The children poured water through a funnel.

The children were engrossed in their tasks and reported that they enjoyed the activities. The teachers observed a significant improvement in the children’s skills over the three days.
